Once again, the biggest drives event on the planet lived up to its reputation. The journey through innovation and digitalization at the Danfoss Drives Conference 2017 was intensive, informative and exciting.
The action-packed 3-day conference included speeches from Danfoss Drives’ President, Vesa Laisi, on how a better tomorrow is driven by drives, and from Vice President, Sales, Marketing and After Market Services, Heikki Hiltunen on how the digital transformation within Danfoss Drives is delivering ultimate customer value.
The guest keynote speaker was Anton Musgrave, a Senior Partner in FutureWorld International, who shared his strategic thinking and future innovative growth imperatives that drive sustainable growth and long-term relevance in a changing world.
Mr Musgrave’s session finished with a panel discussion featuring three of Danfoss Drives’ key customers. Each one communicated the impact of digitalization on their industry. They also discussed their needs and what they expect from Danfoss to help them take advantage of the seemingly endless opportunities that digitalization has to offer. According to their feedback, we are very much on the right track, and are well on the way to delivering the digital solutions to help them take their business to the next level.
“We see Danfoss as a technology leader and we really want to continue our partnership in both traditional and digital solutions. Drives have so much unused potential, and we want to work with Danfoss to unlock that potential”, explains Sami Salento, Head of Equipment R&D, Finland, KONE Corporation.
Amongst others, this year’s Power Sessions included:
– an overview of the medium-voltage drives business – how we have assessed the future needs of the business; how we have addressed those needs by developing a unique, modular medium-voltage drive that delivers a whole new approach to attaining ultimate performance in heavy-duty applications; and how that drive – the VACON® 3000 – is available now
– a summary of Danfoss Drives’ hybrid solutions that help you find the perfect balance of energy supply and demand
– an insight into Danfoss Drives’ high-power enclosed drives and their benefits for customers
– an introduction to DrivePro® – Danfoss Drives’ portfolio of best-in-class supply chain and after-market services.
There was certainly no downtime at DC 2017. Even the lunch breaks provided an opportunity for networking. Attendees had the chance to enjoy their lunch and discuss important issues at a table hosted by one of our drives experts. Topics ranged from more general issues, such as energy efficiency, to more specific ones, such as sales in China.
Business presentations and breakouts covering innovations in all product areas (low-voltage, medium-voltage and motion drives), services and in Danfoss Silicon Power ensured there was no letup in the program.
The event app made sure communication and logistics ran smoothly. And the wide range of videos and virtual reality presentations gave attendees the chance to get up close and personal with products and services that simply weren’t practical to bring on site.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us at the Danfoss Drives Conference 2017. It was a pleasure to meet you all. And, on a personal note, I would like to thank everyone from the organizing committee who, in my opinion, did a great job to ensure the conference continues to be the most ambitious and respected event in the drives calendar. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and hopefully some new ones next year.
